Canadians are disillusioned with our institutions, and so is business. Examples like Teck Mines retracting their energy development project are likely to continue. We are at a crossroads in this country where the public and private investors are looking to Canada to transition its policies and institutions. Policy alignment and integrity on issues relating to resource development, First Nations rights, and climate change is a critical place to begin. These are not mutually exclusive issues but instead represent a window of opportunity to design a new path forward, with trust-building policies and institutions for the 21st century.
